Matili Technical Training Institute, (TTI) in Bungoma County has withdrawn from the upcoming 2025/2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) season, a decision that brings an abrupt halt to the institution’s participation in both the men’s and women’s leagues.

In a formal communication dated December 1, 2025, and addressed to the FKF Bungoma County Branch, the institution cited “unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances” as the reason behind its exit from the FKF Division (Men) and Division One (Ladies) competitions.

The letter, signed by Chief Principal and Secretary to the Board of Governors, Judith Sande, conveys the institute’s regret over the move, noting that the circumstances left the administration with no viable alternative.

In what appears to be a gesture aimed at safeguarding the careers of its athletes, Matili TTI requested the federation to allow all its players to transfer freely to clubs of their choice without any form of restriction. This indicates the institution’s desire to ensure that the affected players are not disadvantaged by the unforeseen development.

The withdrawal marks a significant setback for the institute’s football programmes, which have over the years produced spirited performances at regional and national levels. Although the administration refrained from disclosing details of the challenges prompting the decision, the tone of the letter suggests a difficult internal situation that forced the institution’s hand.

Matili TTI extended its apologies for any inconveniences caused, signalling hope that the federation and the wider football community will understand the weight of the circumstances that led to the announcement.
