Parents have been asked to support their children in acquiring quality education, enabling them to gain desirable knowledge that will facilitate employment and help their parents in their old age.
Former CS for Education, Dr Fred Matiang’i, said that good knowledge helps a person uphold societal norms and differentiate themselves from other animals that have no respect for social boundaries among themselves.
“We are all assembled here because of one man who moulded his and the neighbours’ children through education, and now we bury him like a king,” he said.
The CS was speaking at Bosoti village in Sengera-Bosoti ward, Bomachoge Chache Constituency, yesterday during the burial of mzee Jeremiah Nyang’ara Kimori.

The late Nyang’ara was a senior retired Primary school head teacher who was widely known and respected for his passion for education and Christian service to the community.
Matiangi explained that he had known the fallen teacher since childhood, as a man who had dedicated his entire professional career to the progress and development of schools, driven by his passion and desire to provide the very best education and life chances to pupils from all parts of the community.
Matiang’i who has declared his candidature for 2027 national election presidential seat, told the crowd that during his tenure in he returned normalcy to the Ministry of education by enduring that schools produced credible results instead of depending on leakages and asked the citizens to give him chance by voting him to head the country for better development changes.
Bobasi MP, Innocent Obiri, said he will mobilise his colleagues in parliament to incorporate the NG-CDF into the constitution instead of scrapping it, because it has assisted many children from poor families in accessing sustainable education.
His sentiments were echoed by Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadiah Barango, who said that scrapping the kitty would be tantamount to throttling the children from poor homes.
The urial ceremony was also attended by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Kitutu Chache South MP Anthoney Kibagendi and Kisii County Deputy Governor Elijah Obebo, among other dignitaries.
Before he retired, the late Nyang’ara headed many schools, including Nyakoiba, Eberege Ibencho, Matagaro, and Nyarenda, among others.
Among his pioneer Primary Headteachers who turned up to give him a grand send off were Benard Obure, Wilfred Nyatwang’a, Joseph Mosembe and others who said he was a man who loved all people
He is survived by his wife, adult children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The late teacher Nyang’ara was an exclusive, strict, but fair disciplinarian. He taught this writer, may his soul rest in peace.
