Some 580 mathematics and science education teachers have been trained in the ongoing school curriculum reforms.
The teachers drawn from 20 counties underwent training sessions in Embu, Nakuru, Nyandarua and Nairobi Counties that were conducted by The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (Cemastea).
Cemastea is targeting 1,117 teachers from 47 counties who will in turn train 8,013 others during school holidays.
The training theme was; “enhancing effective learner involvement through Inquiry Based Learning Using 5E Instructional Model’
The theme is in line with the on-going curriculum reforms by Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development that advocates learners being given the opportunity to experience science rather that rote learning
