By Enock Okong’o

Mr. Andrew Odhimbo Buop, the Principal of Maseno School in Kisumu County has been promoted to the position of education ambassador in NewYork, United States of America.

Nyanza Regional Director of Education Mr. Richard Chepkuwai confirmed that he was posted to the city as a government attaché.

His elevation came four years after he was transferred to the giant Maseno School to replace the long serving Principal Mr. Paul Otula who had been sent on compulsory leave over alleged negligence in a case where junior students were being molested by the seniors.

Mr. Buop has now been replaced by the Principal of Kabianga Dr. Oloo as the principal of Baringo High takes up Dr. Oloo’s position at Kabianga.

In 2018 when Mr. Buop just settled at Maseno School after his transfer from Homabay Boys’ School, the institution took about 480 candidates to various universities, therefore setting a mean score of 9.099 points.

During the 2020 KCSE Exinations, Maseno School enrolled 467 boys who performed satisfactorily well where in grade A there were 24 candidates, 242 students at A- and 121 candidates for B+.

It remains a challenge to the new principal and the entire staff to maintain the upward trend.
