Maseno School alumni laud CS Owalo for sponsoring needy students

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo. He has been lauded by Maseno School alumni for supporting education in the area.

Maseno School alumni have praised ICT CS Eliud Owalo for promoting education in the area after he settled all the school fees arrears for David Odhiambo Muga, who will join the school in Form One this year.

Led by Emmanuel Ombaka, Dennis Osano and Barrack Kamire, the old boys witnessed the handing over of a cheque worth Ksh98,654 to the principal of Maseno School Peter Owino.

The boy had an impressive score of 399 marks in the 2023 KCPE examination and was admitted to the school, but unfortunately his parents could not afford his school fees.

The parents’ inability to pay school fees their son compelled him to appeal for financial help online.

“When his case was brought to our attention, we at the foundation sought to help Muga achieve his dream of attending Maseno School to complete his studies and join university to study and become a neurosurgeon,” said the chairman.

The chairman said the money from Eliud Owalo Foundation will cover school fees, development fees, uniform and bedding for the whole of Form One.

He revealed that the foundation donated an extra KSH50,000 seed capital to enable Muga’s mother start a business to help her secure the family finances.

During the handing of the cheque, Muga was accompanied his parents Addah Ogola and Joseph Owera in the presence of area chief Fred Omino and his Assistant Agnes Otieno.

Also in attendance were Nyanza Regional Director of Education Nelson Sifuna, Kisumu West Sub-county Commissioner Wanyonyi, Kisumu West Sub-county Director of Education Rosemary Birenge, and Maseno School Managing Board Dr Okango Onundi.

Dr Onundi thanked the foundation members for the good gesture and appealed to those who have in society to support children from needy homes to continue with education.
