Marking of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations for 2021 that was done between March 14 and April 1 is expected to end on Friday, April 15.

After the end of the KCSE examinations, the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha assured parents and candidates that marking will be done under strict guidelines in order to uphold integrity.

The CS revealed that 35 centres were used in the marking exercise in some selected secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the order of subjects.

The institutions that were chosen for marking include; Alliance High School, State House Girls, Sunshine High School, Starehe Girls, Limuru Girls, Thika High, Buruburu High school, Alliance Girls, Murang’a TTC, Moi Forces Academy (Nairobi), Upper Hill High, Loreto Girls, St. Georges High, Lang’ata High, Kenya High, Moi Girls Isinya and Lenana School.

As marking edges towards the end, there are allegations that some schools or individual students might miss their marks due to suspicion over examination irregularities.

287 students who sat the 2020 KCSE examination had their results cancelled because of malpractices.

CS Magoha disclosed that they received clear evidence that the 287 students did cheat in the examinations.

“Out of the 287, 211 of them had unauthorized material in the examination rooms, mobile phones found were 45,” he said.
