Mandera East Member of Parliament Hussein Weytan has expressed deep sorrow following a bomb explosion that occurred at Kona B Hotel in Mandera Town on Saturday night, leaving three people seriously injured and the community shaken.
In a statement released to the press, Hon. Weytan described the incident as “a tragic event that has left our community traumatised and deeply hurt.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to those affected and urged residents to remain united during this difficult time.
“My heartfelt sympathies go out to all those affected,” he said. “At this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the injured who are currently receiving care at the Mandera County Teaching and Referral Hospital. I wish them a full and speedy recovery.”
Weytan also praised the medical staff for their swift response and dedication.

“I commend the medical team who are working tirelessly to provide the victims with the treatment they need,” he noted.
Addressing the need for accountability and safety, the MP called on authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion.
“I ask the relevant agencies to conduct an investigation to ensure the safety our citizens.”
He further assured the victims’ families of the community’s support, saying, “Please know that you are not alone. The entire Mandera community stands with you in solidarity.”
He called for unity and resilience, pointing out that the county of Mandera has faced adversity before and will rise again.
“Let us come together in unity and compassion as we support one another through this moment of hardship,” he said. “Mandera is strong, and together, we will overcome.”
