Malel thanks KNUT delegates for electing him to high post

The newly elected first Vice National Chairman Joseph Malel Langat

The newly elected first Vice National Chairman Joseph Malel Langat has extended his gratitude to the members of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) for electing him.

“This election signifies a transformative moment not only for me personally but also for my family, the dedicated educators nationwide, and the broader trade union community,” he stated.

Additionally, Malel noted that his journey with KNUT began 17 years ago when the KNUT Bomet branch entrusted him with a leadership role.

He said that the support, critiques, and guidance received during that time significantly influenced his trajectory within the union.

“I am indebted to the 25 KNUT branches in the Rift Valley region, particularly the Regional Council Members who granted me the mandate as RV NEC 001, providing the stepping stone to seek the position of First Vice National Chairman,” he added.

Malel further pledged to foster unity as we collectively strive to strengthen KNUT as a formidable defender of teachers’ rights on a national, regional, and global scale.

“In memory of our late brother, Stanley Mutai, may he rest in peace, and may his family be cared for by the grace of God,” he stated.
