New developments have emerged just a day after students from Friends Bulupi Secondary School in Malava Sub County protested to the education offices against the transfer of the school Principal which they blamed on the Board of Management Chairman.

Documents in our possession have revealed that the Principal had requested for a transfer by the Teachers Service Commission out of his own volition.

The Principal Mr. Anakeya Alexandar Ongaka has hardly been at Bulupi Secondary School for a month.

The TSC has acknowledged receiving Mr. Ongaka’s letter requesting to be transferred and having responded to it on 23 August 2023.

The commission had decided with immediate effect to transfer him to St. Michael’s Emakhwa secondary school within Kakamega County.

The letter signed by the Regional TSC Director in charge of Western further directed him to hand over the school to the incoming Principal Mr. Martin Waswa from St. Thomas Nanderema Boys in Busia.

It further directed the outgoing Principal to take over from Emoit Peter Etyang who was also aware of the changes having been communicated to by the commission.

The TSC also directed the county director’s office to supervise and oversee the handing and taking over the process and give feedback on the same once the exercise was finalized.

On Wednesday students from Bulupi School took to the streets protesting against the transfer of the principal.

They accused the BoM Chairman of being behind the Principal’s ouster something they could not take lying down.

They termed the principal a friendly and academically oriented person.

They presented their grievances at the Sub County office where they were addressed by the education office before returning to school as the office handled the matter.
