Makueni County has set aside KSh114.9 million bursary funds to the needy and bright students.

Speaking during the launch of the programme, the ECM ICT, Education and Internship Elizabeth Muli said that they have set aside 10 per cent of the bursary in every ward to persons with disabilities for inclusivity purposes.

She called upon the parents and students to apply for the bursary which will be allocated fairly.

The event was attended by sub county, ward and village administrators who will ensure that all the bursary forms are easily accessible from their area of jurisdiction. She encouraged the youths in colleges and technical institutions to fill the forms through the county bursary online portal.

“The cheques will be released by governor after serious vetting of the applicants of day and boarding schools, colleges and universities.

Last year about 14, 000 benefitted from this bursary. She noted that they will be very strict in the vetting and listing to avoid complaints. “Everything will be in the public domain for transparency even before we write the cheques,” Muli said.

The deadline of the application is January 24.
