As deadline for initiating senior school transfers beckon, most parents are in despair on initiating transfers for their children. They are calling upon the government to approve school based admission which they say is faster and reliable.
According to the parents, the transfers cannot go through if not approved by the education director where the school level belongs to, even after the Ministry of Education approved transfer procedure in senior schools.
The situation was bit tensed at Mwaani Girls, with long queue of parents seeking transfers. Japheth Ndeto a parent from Kalawa seeking to transfer her daughter noted that he is not interested with the school her daughter was invited to, as it is far and expensive.

He noted that the Ministry of Education has complicated the whole process; saying that the initial school based admissions was seamless and should be reconsidered back.
Another parent Everline Nzuva from Mbavani area in Makueni County, seeking transfer said that generally everything has a challenge, from downloading results, letter, initiating transfers with low system is more confusing to the parents. She added that they do not know whether the letters will be approved or not, what to buy and for which school as they await reporting on Monday.
“We are just with our children at home. We are working hard despite the harsh economy to make sure that they join the senior school,” Nzuva said.
However Mwaani Girls Secondary School deputy administration Rose Ngumbau noted that they are fully prepared for CBE and grade 10 admissions.
“We have all the facilities needed, and we will help the parents where we can so that they can secure vacancies for their children,” Ngumbau said
