Makueni County deputy governor Lucy Mulili has vowed to champion for the rights of the Gender Based Violence (GBV) victims and make sure they are served with justice.
Mulili spoke at Wote Green Park during the commemoration of International women’s Day, the event which was attended by teachers, women, leaders and many school girls.
The event under the theme ‘rights to justice, action for all women and girls’ saw call for strong girl child empowerment, women empowerment and equity taking the day.

“We will not give up on this advocacy; we will fight for our girls and women until they get economic empowerment, access to education as well as representation in leadership. I call upon women not to be silenced but speak up when faced by GBV issues,” Mulili said.
Additionally, DG noted that the county is committed in supporting girls programmes that address health, nutrition and reproductive health awareness through partnerships with development partners.
She added that the county government is committed to continuous protection of the survivors of GBV and safeguarding their rights.
