Makueni deputy head urges parents to take care of their children as exam period near end

Makueni’s St. Luke’s ACK Wote Township Comprehensive School deputy head teacher has encouraged parents to play there role by taking care of the children amid the December long holiday.

Nicholus Mutava while addressing the press said long holidays are always marred with a lot of indecencies which when exposed to children, they might regret in the future

“You see, nowadays, a lot is happening. There are kidnappings, peer pressure and other societal vices, kindly let us take care of our children. Know where your children are all the time and let’s continue advising, creating time for them and mentoring them as well. The holiday is long and rains are on, let’s not let our children play near water masses or even send them to cross rivers,” Mutava said.

He also advised parents to engage children fully at home and even encourage them to attend churches.

Mutava emphasized that since the schools are now in CBE curriculum, learners should be engaged in farming, innovations, daily activities and practicing a lot on whatever they have learned in school.

Mutava also reminded parents that come January they expect the learners to come back to school physically and mind wise fit.

“Since we want to ensure 100 percent transition we don’t want anything that may hinder their visions,”Mutava said

He was speaking after the final paper of KJSEA where he expressed confidence that all the candidates will join senior school.

The deputy also revealed that come 2026, the school shall conduct interview to enroll new pupils from grade one to eight to avoid scrambling for the few slots the school will have.

“We are mostly overwhelmed by big number since the school is very much liked but we do interviews since we cannot accommodate all of them,” deputy.

He said that the school is better placed in all matters concerning CBE adding that they well equipped laboratory, qualified junior school teachers, modern buildings, hot showers for learners who might have issues with cold water, modern classrooms, spacious field among others.

Mutava further revealed that the school is active in the co-curricular activities having taken a team of 46 to national level this year in music among other items in different levels.
