Makueni County Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili has called upon new interns not to be manipulated by any officials, adding that only the county public service board has the mandate to employ, and it’s only through advertised jobs.
Mulili was speaking during the induction of 49 new interns into the county government, marking another key step in equipping young people with practical skills for the job market.
“Today we have ushered in a cohort of 28 men and 21 women, among them three persons living with disabilities who will be attached to various county departments to learn from the experts,” Mulili said.

Mulili lauded the programme, adding that it will provide them with the hands-on experience needed in various workplaces. She said that there are plans to readvertise 49 more internship opportunities.
She encouraged the already inducted ones to live within their means and steer clear of social life influences.
The event was attended by CECM Education, ICT, and Internship, Japheth Mang’oka, Chief Officer for Education, Irene Makau, among others.
