Form four students at Makueni Boys High School have been suspended for two weeks after going on strike.

The 258 students were suspended for two weeks last Saturday morning after they declined to have their hair shaved and started throwing stones around the compound.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan, said the incident happened after evening preps when the boys began hurling stones everywhere in the school.

“They even injured the Principal who was trying to intervene before we arrived. He was treated and discharged,” said Napeiyan.

Napeiyan added that police officers responded quickly and restored calm at the school.

Speaking to Education news, Chief Principal Raphael Diwani said the students wanted to go against the school rules which require each should be shaved.

He added that students are shaved every month and other students cooperated but the form fours refused and later became unruly.

“The form fours will be suspended for two weeks. And they they should be clean shaven when they come back with all the school fees balances,” added Diwani.
