“I was at Makueni boys high school. I want to join technical University of Kenya to pursue aeronautical engineering. Good relationship with teachers, students and all the school community at large helped me a lot. I thank them for their support because they never relented when need be,” said Kyalo.
His mother Jane Kyalo who was overcome by joy said Machakos social welfare and Co-operative Bank of Kenya gave her son sponsorship and it helped him a lot.
She added that the son has been bright and takes his education seriously from the word go.
“We encouraged him a lot in finishing his assignments. The key to his performance is prayers and hard work. I also thank those who sponsored him and I trust that despite being on wheelchair he is destined to fulfil his dreams,” said Jane.
Makueni Boys chief principal Raphael Diwani said they made the boy comfortable in school by constructing ramps and special toilet for him. “He was the only one with special needs, very bright and obedient,” he said.
Diwani added that its time that children without extreme special needs are integrated with others in school.
“This is a clear example of disability is not inability. He was always on wheelchair and used to be pushed by classmates, teachers or any one in school when need be. He has been performing very well since he joined form one. I wish him all the best in life,” added the chief principal.
