As schools resume face-to-face learning in the country, Makueni Boys High School Chief Principal Mr. Raphael Diwani together with his teaching staff has offered induction session to students.
During the session, students were sensitized on the danger that lurks behind the novel coronavirus. In the talk, students were urged to observe the Covid-19 protocols to avert the spread of the virus.
“We will note all the students with pre-existing conditions to avoid unnecessary panic within the school compound. I request students to keep off some of the habits for better,” said Diwani.
Diwani pointed out that it was a must for the school to offer the induction after the students reported from home. The students were sensitized on body health, psychosocial among others.
“My work here is to keep Makueni safe from the Covid-19 and pray God to take over. I request everyone to play their role accordingly. We also want to compensate the time we lost. Remember when one school is affected it will close alone not all the schools again and that’s why I request total seriousness from everyone,” added Diwani.
He expressed his happiness that in day one of the phased reopening, out of the 258 form four students, 228 reported and by Wednesday every student had reported.
He appreciated that they have enough thermo guns, hand washing stations and plenty of water. He also said they will continue putting up everything in place observing the priority and its urgency.
He, however, added that they have covered the syllabus in many subjects and so presently revising for the national exams targeting a mean score of 8.5.
The school Deputy Principal Albert Musyimi called upon the students to observe total hygiene telling them sharing of meals, masks and personal items will not be allowed. He said every student has an extra plate and spoon to discourage sharing.
“I will encourage you to label your masks. Those with disposable make sure you dispose them at the dustbins placed everywhere and strategically in the school compound,” said Musyimi.
