Make region an education hub, Machogu tells stakeholders in home turf

Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, while touring learning institutions in Kisii to ascertain the academic progress today insisted that education should be upheld as a resolution to bringing equality change in professional life. The CS also congratulated Gusii region for its sterling performance in last year’s KCSE results, urging them to make the region an education hub.

“I am grateful to you people, you have really made the region proud for your performance and you will perform well in all areas”, Machogu said, adding that there was a need for schools to embrace students from all spheres of life as the government is willing to offer assistance.

The cabinet secretary urged parents not to withhold students at home for lack of fees, advising on the use of CDF, KUCCPS and government capitation that are available for learners to ensure a good learning environment.

He later joined the Kisii County Governor, Simba Arati in disbursing funds to vulnerable learners in the county where he vowed to join hands with KCB in partnering to ensure all learners get access to education.

Machogu further took to his interest in sponsoring 135 students to join schools whose cases have been delayed due to lack of school fees.

Machogu said that as a Minister for Education, he can’t walk his head high in a foundation of poor performance noting that all academic stakeholders are called upon to sacrifice every time and resource in making Gusii a hub of education.

Appreciating the corporation that has seen him work well with stakeholders, the Cabinet Secretary thanked the President and acknowledged the fact that he chose him for the job.

He confirmed that President Ruto will be touring Gusii as of March 24 and learning institutions will be in the list.
