The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha has underscored the importance of ethics and character in the formation of our national character.

He made the remarks in a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Education Ms Mumina Bonaya during the 8th graduation ceremony of the Management University of Africa (MUA) at the institution’s main campus in Kisaju, Isinya Sub-County, Kajiado County.

‘In the course of acquiring education, we must be aware that education without character is harmful to us and to prosperity,’ read part of his speech.

He said that his government is committed to ensuring that many students have access to higher education. He added that the 100% transition policy   will ensure learners complete their secondary education.

He further added that the move will ensure that the country is self-sufficient in the development of human resource capacity.

Prof Magoha challenged universities to ensure that they release graduates who can work and live anywhere.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Washington Okeyo challenged the graduates to go out into the world and practice what they had learned.

“Professionals practice what they have learnt. They apply and practice the knowledge they have acquired from educational institutions and lifelong learning,’ he pointed out.

He reminded the graduates to be men and women of character as they go out into the world.

Others who were in attendance include the institution’s chairperson Board of Trustees Dr. Tom Musili, the university’s chancellor Dr. Arch. Reuben Mutiso and the Chairperson of the University Governing Council Dr. Edward Odundo.
