Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has hinted at losing interest in carrying on with his duties at the Ministry in the next government saying he is sick and tired of fighting against ‘dark forces’.

This comes after the Auditor General recently released a report exposing massive corruption within the Education ministry running into billions of shillings tagged as unexplained expenditure.

Prof. Magoha who was speaking at Kadika Girls in Migori County during the launch of the second phase of CBC classrooms construction lamented that Kenyans have not been receiving value for their money due to mismanagement of funds by individuals manipulating figures within the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) database.

“I have been working tirelessly to seal corruption loopholes for the duration I have been in that office but we have cartels equally working towards squandering public funds through different channels with NEMIS being one of them,” he said.

However, the CS said the Ministry is on the verge of re- engineering the NEMIS system to be fool proof in a bid to end the perennial corruption within and save taxpayers’ billions of shillings channelled to unknown individuals’ pockets.

Prof. Magoha later on warned teachers against discrimination of learners based on their religious or ethnic backgrounds saying the constitution allows for freedom of worship and called for cohesion despite cultural differences.

The CS had visited Nyabisawa Girls before addressing the press at Kadika Girls. He then proceeded to Homabay county where he also launched a similar project at Magina Girls and later handed over computers to Andiwa Secondary.

He finally headed to Ogande Girls to commission the second phase of CBC classrooms construction and inspect the ongoing construction of Dr. Ida Odinga library at the institution.
