The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, has urged parents in Kisii to actively support their children in their pursuit of quality education, which he emphasized would pave the way for a prosperous and contented future.

Speaking during a fundraiser held at Riakumba SDA Church in the County, the CS highlighted the vital role of education in a community’s well-being, stressing that an educated population commands respect, fosters peace, and stimulates innovative solutions for economic growth.

“The annual Government investment in education is vital and you should appreciate these efforts by cooperating with the Government instead of engaging in opposition without constructive solutions,” he implored.

Machogu underscored the importance of logical and peaceful consultations as the means to resolve a nation’s challenges, emphasizing the need for clear-minded discussions.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the region’s rapidly growing population, attributed to fertile soils supporting diverse crops, underscores the value of quality education as an enduring legacy for children, in contrast to land that doesn’t multiply with population growth.

The CS was accompanied by his colleague, Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore, Solicitor General Shadrach Mose, and Members of Parliament for North Mugirango and Kitutu Chache North, Joash Kemosi and Japheth Nyakundi, respectively, and hosted by Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Ombane.

Also in attendance were the Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momanyi and her Kisii counterpart Diris Aburi.

They emphasized that FGM is illegal, and those involved should be arrested and prosecuted.

These two legislators urged both current and former leaders to unite in the fight against FGM, emphasizing the need for political unity to address this detrimental practice.
