Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has lauded the church for its big role in supporting education programmes apart from the spiritual nourishment they provide to society.
Machogu said his office will continue working in partnership with the church to promote education in the country.
He thanked the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) for starting two Technical training institutes at Marani and Nyabite in Kisii and Nyamira Counties respectively.
The CS gave Sh 5 million to boost the construction of the Marani Technical and Vocational Training Institute.
He was speaking at Kisii National Polytechnic on Sunday during the inauguration of Bishop John Orina Omangi as the ACK’s new Northern Nyanza Diocese Pioneer Bishop.

Machogu said the government will continue to equip the Technical Training Institutes of Education (TVETS) across the country to enable them to achieve international standards with courses geared towards the achievement of Vision 2030.
The Colourful ceremony was presided over by ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit.
Bishop Sapit thanked the Cabinet Secretary for the gesture.
“The government’s gesture to support the church’s effort to promote education cements its love for the church.’ He said.
The Bishop reiterated the importance of embracing personal integrity saying it defines the totality of human beings.
“When you are a man of high integrity that means you can please God and allow Him to use you to accomplish his holy work.
He lauded the new Bishop Omangi for being elevated to the new position whose tenure runs for 40 years after for elections.
In his maiden speech, Bishop Omangi vowed to work with all stakeholders in the church to enable it to achieve its main goal of spreading the gospel anchored on the spirit of love and unity.
He appealed to the youth to embrace Christianity saying it was the only truth they could find solutions to the ever-emerging challenges.
He asked all parents to assist him by supporting the spiritual growth of their children through the provision of quality education that will add value to their lives.
