Machogu issues new guidelines to end cheating in KCPE, KCSE exams

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has said that the Ministry of Education (MoE) will revise guidelines for the administration of national examinations in a bid to curb cheating.

Speaking while officially opening the 46th Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Conference in Mombasa, the CS said that examination centre managers will now have collect the materials twice, in the morning and afternoon.

This is opposed to previous years where they have been collecting all examination materials and papers in the morning.

Machogu said that the Ministry will also increase the number of containers in counties for better management and control of the materials.

“As we prepare for the 2023 national examinations, the government shall not relent in its resolve to completely eradicate cases of examination malpractice,” he said.

KESSHA National Chairperson Indimuli Kahi asked the Ministry to trust principals with the administration of national exams.

He said the association will continue supporting the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to ensure that they deliver credible and verifiable examinations and said that the association will further comply with the collection of exams twice daily.
