Machakos School for the blind feted for its inclusiveness in TVET education

Women in Stem award awarded to the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind

Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind has been honoured for its inclusiveness, placing it among the top ten Technical Vocational Education, and Training (TVET) institutions in the country.

According to Chief Principal Dr. Nduku Mutua, the institution scoped position eight (8) in the women’s category nationally.

Dr. Nduku received the award during this year’s mid-term project review and recognition gala held in Nairobi recently.

She showered her students with praises, saying they had put the institution and Machakos County in the national map of achievers.

Principal Secretary TVET Dr Esther Muoria praised the growing partnership between industries and institutions saying dual TVET is turning learning into livelihoods.

“Our youth are one of the biggest resources. We want to ensure they are properly skilled through dual TVET,” said the Principal Secretary.

Dr. Muoria referred to the youths as the resource that the country is going to depend on to industrialise the nation.

During the event a number of industries were also feted for supporting industry based learning.

Taita Taveta and Kiambu national polytechnics emerged as overall dual TVET champions.
