Parents in Machakos County have been empowered to play a more active role in their children’s education through a workshop on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and career guidance.
The event, held at St. Philip’s Neri School in Mavoko Sub-county, brought together stakeholders from the Ministry of Education (MoE), and Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), among other education partners.
Speaking after the training, Manase Masek Nagio, a placement and career officer at the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), highlighted the importance of equipping parents with the tools to understand their children’s academic and career needs.
“We are transitioning from the 8-4-4 system to CBC, and parents must be actively involved in their children’s development. This programme focusses on helping parents understand their children’s character, talents, and academic strengths to guide them toward informed career choices,” Nagio said.
