Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has criticised the recent visit of 10,000 teachers to State House, where he claimed the teachers were given handouts to support President William Ruto.
Speaking at Kariobangi AIC church in Machakos Town, where he presided over a fundraiser, Mwangangi said the culture of handouts to various groups by the government will not help to develop the country.
“No country can develop through handouts. Calling delegations to the State House and giving out Sh10,000 will not help to develop the country,” he said.

The question isn’t “Why do we need homework?” but rather “What kind of homework is worth doing?”
His sentiments were shared by Machakos Central MCA Nicholas Nzioka who said the government continued to delay disbursement of capitation to schools even as it spent money on unplanned expenditures.
“Even when teachers go to State house and capitation is not released to schools,it is useless,”said Nzioka.
The leaders also faulted recent Boda Boda empowerment drives by the government saying the best way to empower the riders was to reduce import duty and taxes on motorbike spare parts.
Mr Mwangangi called on leaders to prioritize service delivery to the people instead of engaging in early political campaigns.
