Bungoma county gubernatorial aspirant Ken Lusaka has asked Bungoma teachers to support his bid for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat.

Addressing teachers from Bungoma county at Zion Hotel during the thanksgiving ceremony of Bungoma county KUPPET chairman David Barasa, Lusaka said he initiated a lot of education development projects during his term as a governor.

He pledged to support the teachers’ welfare if elected as the county boss.

The Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial aspirant said his government will set aside funds for teachers employed by the board of schools so that they can be motivated to carry out their duties.

“Some teachers employed by BOMs go for months without pay and that demoralizes them,” he explained.

He added that once elected, he will give slots to some teachers to serve in administrative positions in his government.

“During my term as a governor, I worked well Madam Beryl Mutekhele whom I picked from Lugulu Girls. She served well as the CECM for education,” he said.

He asked teachers to present the names of teachers whom they wish to serve in his government come August.

He promised to streamline the bursary kitty and sponsor students with average marks to accomplish their dreams adding that due to the government’s 100 percent transition policy, every learner needs to be supported to access education.

Lusaka lauded KUPPET Bungoma branch chairman David Barasa for his tireless support to fight for teachers’ welfare.

“I want to congratulate Barasa for what he is doing and assure all of you that I will stand with teachers,” he affirmed.

On the other hand, Barasa noted that he will continue fighting for the teachers’ welfare and support education in Bungoma County and Western region at large.

He promised to ensure that all children study in a conducive environment.

Bungoma County Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga urged teachers to support her re- election and vote for Lusaka as the governor arguing that Lusaka did much in the education sector when he was the governor.

“I am a teacher by profession and I can assure that if you rally behind Lusaka, you will be very safe,” he said.
