Lugari MP, KESSHA in talks to boost academic standards

Lugari Member of Parliament. (MP) Nabii Nabwera has held a strategic meeting with the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Executive to review the constituency’s education performance and lay the groundwork for the second phase of the Academic Creaming Programme.

The meeting, which brought together key education stakeholders, focused on evaluating the outcomes of the first phase of the Creaming Programme, an initiative aimed at identifying and mentoring top-performing students.

According to Nabwera, the discussions were centered on lessons learned, areas of improvement, and strategies to enhance effectiveness as the programme enters its next phase.

“We assessed what worked and what needs to be improved going forward. The second phase must build on the strengths of the first while addressing the gaps we’ve identified,” said Nabwera.

The leaders also discussed the ongoing constituency-wide examinations, whose marking is currently underway. The results of these exams will be instrumental in shaping the rollout of Phase Two.

Launched under the MP’s education agenda, the Academic Creaming Programme is designed to promote academic excellence by recognizing high achievers and fostering a competitive learning environment in Lugari. It is part of a broader effort to raise education standards and increase student performance across the constituency.

Nabwera reiterated his commitment to making education a cornerstone of development in Lugari, promising continued collaboration with school heads and education officers to ensure that all learners have equal opportunities to excel.

Outcomes from the marking exercise and details of Phase Two implementation are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
