Lugari in shock as varsity student killed in suspected love triangle

Community mourns Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi as police arrest suspect Dubicuss Wafula in connection with her death.

Shock and grief have engulfed Nambilima village in Lugari Constituency after the brutal killing of Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi, a university student whose death is suspected to have stemmed from a love triangle gone wrong.

The fourth-year Alupe University student was found dead on Tuesday, September 16, at Mbande Guest House in Matete.

The 23-year-old had earlier checked into the lodge with her boyfriend, identified as Dubicuss Wafula.

Police investigations suggest that Wafula allegedly stabbed Namakwangwachi several times shortly after the two had been intimate. Detectives suspect jealousy and relationship wrangles were at the heart of the attack, though inquiries are still ongoing.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene but was later arrested in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, while attempting to travel to Nairobi. Officers confirmed that he is now in custody and assisting with the probe.

Lugari Sub-County Police Commander described the act as “deeply disturbing,” assuring the public that justice would be served. He also urged individuals experiencing domestic or relationship difficulties to seek help before resorting to violence.

Namakwangwachi’s death has devastated her family, friends, and the university community, where she was remembered as a dedicated student with a bright future.

“We are heartbroken,” said a family spokesperson.
