Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera has called on students to embrace discipline, determination, and courage as essential tools for success in academics and beyond.
Speaking over the weekend at the Lugari Achievers Finish Smart Forum held at Bishop Sulumeti Girls Secondary School in Lumakanda, the legislator emphasized the importance of obedience and respect for teachers. He said adhering to instructions and school rules was central to personal growth and academic excellence.
“Success is born from consistency and obedience,” Nabwera told the gathering. “By listening to your teachers and applying what you are taught, you can unlock your full potential.”
The annual forum, themed “Soaring with the Eagles, Building a Culture of Academic Excellence,” brought together 653 students from 26 schools across Lugari Constituency. The top three schools were recognized for their performance and given an opportunity to showcase their achievements.
The event drew participation from key education stakeholders, including Prof. Mentor Abuya, representatives from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and officials from the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA). The speakers encouraged candidates to remain focused as they prepare for upcoming national examinations and to view challenges as stepping stones rather than barriers.

Nabwera assured learners that opportunities for success exist for those who seize them. He reminded the students that setbacks should not deter them, stressing that they can always rise again with renewed effort. The MP concluded his remarks by offering blessings and words of encouragement, expressing confidence that the forum would inspire lasting testimonies of achievement.
Teachers who attended the event lauded the initiative, saying it was timely in motivating candidates. They noted that interactions with leaders and professionals reinforced classroom lessons and gave students a broader view of what discipline and hard work can yield.
Stakeholders said the Finish Smart Forum has become an important platform for instilling values of resilience, academic focus, and peer learning among students in the region. By bringing together candidates from various schools, the forum also fostered collaboration and a culture of healthy competition.
Organizers described the gathering as a catalyst for promoting a strong academic culture in Lugari, one that extends beyond examination preparation to building character and ambition.
The Lugari Achievers Finish Smart Forum is expected to continue as an annual event, with plans to expand its reach and include more schools in future editions.
