Ahiti Ndomba college was given a rare treat after the best overall student was instantly offered a job on graduation day by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi.
The college’s 38th graduation ceremony was one to be remembered long after for this singular phenomenon of getting a job right on the graduation square.
Stephen Ng’ang’a is the lucky guy who, after the CS enquired of the young man he had just handed several trophies, was handed a farm management job before he could even remove his graduation gown.
Caught unawares, he could be seen pacing up and down in either confusion or excitement as congratulations generously poured in from management and colleagues.
And he had reason to. With the rampant unemployment where graduates search for jobs for ages without success, his was probably a miracle.
“I am overwhelmed, confused but at the same time I have to thank the CS for offering me a job. We were many but he saw the best in me,” said Ng’ang’a.
The 26-year old will report to work on December 1, though he says it will not deter his resolve to pursue higher learning in animal production.
“I will go back to school in the near future for higher learning to improve my animal production skills. I believe animal production is the way to go for better farming in Kenya,” he said.
Ng’ang’a was a student of Animal Health Production where he emerged the best with 87 points.
Animal Health and Industry Training Institute (Ahiti) Ndomba had 32 students graduating.
The institute offers three courses; Diploma in Animal Health and Production, Certificate in Animal Health and Production, and Artificial Insemination.
