The Lower Eastern Regional Director, John Wamae, has officially inaugurated the ATC Kwakathoka Agriculture Training and Vocational College (ATVC) in Makueni.
Representing the Chief Guest, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET), Esther Muoria, Wamae handed over the registration certificate to the Makueni County government, which oversees the college.
“I announce that the Kwakathoka college is duly registered by TVETA to offer Agriculture,” stated Wamae.
Additionally, he emphasized that the institution is authorized to provide diploma courses using the traditional model.
Wamae further highlighted the flexibility for the college to innovate under CDAC (Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Certification).
Governor Mutula Kilonzo, receiving the registration certificate, disclosed that the college, now a public institution, is registered to offer five artisan courses sponsored by TVET.
“While the initial student cohort received sponsorship, future enrollees will be required to pay the designated fees for these short courses,” he stated.
Kilonzo further underscored the significance of the college in bridging the literacy gap in farming, promoting agriculture as a viable path for the community.
