Longest serving KNUT chair retires

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Bomet branch has elected Joseph Cheruiyot as their new Chairman.
Cheruiyot from Konoin Sub-County was elected during a by-election following the early retirement of Francis Tonui .
Cheruiyot beat two other competitors to emerge the winner with 408 votes during the election held at the Centre for Devolved Governance in Bomet town. He takes over a rich legacy left by Tonui who has held the position for 22 successive years.
Tonui while handing over to the new officials said he decided to retire after serving as a teacher for 33years.
