Lessons interrupted as wind blows off school roof in Baringo

The fate of over 200 learners from AIC Visa Oshwal, Kabarnet in Baringo County remains unknown after heavy rains and winds blow four classrooms.

The weekend disaster blew entire roofs of Grade One classrooms damaging the entire infrastructure.

School head teacher William Bowen said despite no casualties reported, belongings of the learners were affected.

He said close to KSh2 million will be needed to renovate and provide a facelift to the structures.

Bowen rallied professionals, leaders and the community to unite and mobilize resources to build the school.

Speaking at the school area legislature Joshua Kandie expressed commitment of his office to ensure normalcy.

The Member of Parliament promised to phase out the old structures in the school using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty.

Disaster Risk Management (DRM) team from the county government promised to provide necessary support to the school.
