Lenku: County to offer 1,000 scholarships to poly students

Kajiado County Government will offer 1,000 polytechnic scholarships to local students, Governor Joseph ole Lenku has said.
He called on parents and teachers together with the students in both secondary and primary schools in Kajiado County to work hard to improve the performance in national examinations.
The Governor was speaking in Enkii secondary school in Kajiado South Sub-county an area which has for years been producing poor results.
“Over 90 per cent of the young men and women who are doing the final examination end up being wasted since they don’t attain the required marks to join any tertiary institution,” he said.
The county governor who was the chief guest during the opening of a resource center in the school called on the all stakeholder to team up and find long lasting solutions the problem.
“The county government of Kajiado will offer 1000 youths full sponsorship to join vocational training centres which are within the county of Kajiado in a parnership between the county government of Kajiado and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB),” he said.
The county government plans to also start a feeding programme for to the entire ECDE centres, he said.
