Legislator urges stakeholders to unite to address education challenges

Parents, teachers and other education stakeholders have been urged to play their part in ensuring good morals among school children.

Speaking at Matetani Secondary School, Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Muli said everyone has a responsibility in ensuring children are moulded into important people in society.

The outspoken lawmaker decried increased cases of children accessing drugs and warned those involved of dire consequences.

He called for concerted efforts in a bid to identify challenges affecting performance and offering possible solutions.

“It starts with you as a parent, as a teacher, watchman and even cook in the school. You can’t look away when the future of these children is being taken down the drain,” said Muli.

He was commissioning newly built classrooms at the school.

He noted that teamwork by all the stakeholders will ensure the standards of education in the sub-county soared.

He noted that dwindling performance should not be blamed on teachers alone.

“We should not build classes and give bursaries without seeing good performance from our schools. Don’t let our efforts expended in vain,” he said.

Kangundo Sub-county was among those which performed dismally in the last national exams.
