Learning resumes at school in Machakos after TSC intervention

Learning has resumed at Isyukoni Secondary School in Masinga sub-county, Machakos County following Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) intervention, a week after parents stormed the school and chased the principal away.

The parents had protested the principal’s leadership and called for dissolution of the Board of Management (BoM) due to the deteriorating academic performance at the school.

They took away their children and vowed not to bring them back until the matter was resolved.

On Monday, TSC officers held a meeting with parents where they appointed the deputy principal Mr. Wambua as acting principal and the parents agreed to bring back their children.

A section of parents who spoke to the media expressed satisfaction over the decision.

“We are glad that the issue has been settled. All we want is for our children to learn in a conducive environment. We will work with the deputy principal Mr. Wambua for the time being,” said a parent.

“We are grateful to the Deputy County Commissioner who came and assured us that soon we will have a new principal. Our grievances have been solved and we cannot ask for anything else other than supporting the school to prosper,” said another parent.

The meeting was also attended by the school BoM and the DCC among other leaders.
