Learning activities has been disrupted at Kamoingon in Elgeyo Marakwet County following a banditry attack targeting members of the Kabarmengen clan.
As tension remains high, teachers and learners have been forced to stay away from school for fear of attacks.
The assailants, whose number was not immediately established, were reportedly armed with rifles and other dangerous weapons.
Affected residents, led by Ludia Kirwa and Mary Komen, said the attackers tied them up, assaulted them, and fled with an unknown number of livestock.

“They tied us, beat us up, and drove away our animals. We called for help, but the police arrived long after the attackers had left,” lamented Kirwa.
The residents are now appealing for the urgent intervention of Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, saying the persistent attacks have paralyzed education and development in the region.

“We are living in fear. Our children cannot go to school, and we have lost everything,” said Komen.
This comes despite the ongoing voluntary disarmament exercise in the region, where authorities have already collected over 200 rifles and more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition.
