Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has reprimanded Nyaribari Masaba Constituency residents who took to the streets to join in on the Saba Saba demonstrations on Friday.

Speaking at Omobera village, Machogu said that the demonstrations caused psychological harm and panic to innocent students who were going on with their studies.

“Those who participated in the unlawful exercise have spoilt the history of our region known as a place for refuge during time of trouble,” he said.

Machogu asked them to embrace peace and shun efforts “to tear the country apart”.

The CS urged residents to concentrate on their daily jobs to earn money to educate their children instead of taking part in demonstrations.

Machogu was accompanied by South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro who said that time for politics was over and called on stakeholders to improve infrastructure in area schools.

He lauded the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for the recent announcement regarding recruitment of teachers soon saying that it will ease the teacher shortage being experienced countrywide.
