Laikipia University Students’ Council President Emmanuel Kibet, has lauded the college management for taking accountability to address the long-standing concerns raised by students at the institution, including missing marks, illegal fees, questionable grades, and persistent system errors.
In his statement, Kibet welcomed the recent actions by the university administration, commending Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph K. Rotich for confronting these issues directly.
“Finally, the institution is taking accountability for matters that have affected students for too long,” Kibet said.
He added:“We have no personal grudge against the university; our goal has always been to amplify the voices of students who feel ignored by those entrusted to serve them.”
Kibet noted that while students have been asked to submit relevant information to assist in resolving the issues, much of the data can already be retrieved from the university’s ERP system.
This, he said, should streamline the process and reduce unnecessary delays.

As a gesture of goodwill, the Students’ Council President announced that campaigns highlighting these challenges will be temporarily paused until Tuesday next week, allowing the administration time to address the matters internally.
Kibet emphasized that going forward, the Council hopes to share only positive updates reflecting genuine progress from the university.
Student leaders and stakeholders have welcomed the update, viewing it as a crucial step toward restoring trust between the administration and the student body.
The education analysts say that if these actions are implemented effectively, they could set a precedent for transparency and accountability in higher education institutions nationwide.
“The coming week will be critical,” Kibet added, “as we work alongside the administration to ensure fairness, transparency, and an improved academic experience for all students.”
With this development, students and the university administration are focusing on constructive dialogue and practical solutions to longstanding issues, signaling a potential turning point for Laikipia University.
