St. Peters Kyumbuni Secondary School students from have gone up in arms to demonstrate against the dwindling education standards in the school.
Speaking to Education News at Matungulu CDF offices, the students lamented that the school lacks adequate teachers and infrastructure among other things.
“The school is headed by a deputy principal. It has only three teachers, one employed by TSC and two employed by the board,” a student said, adding that more teachers should be deployed to the school.
He noted that most students have been forced to transfer to other institutions and that the lack of adequate teachers, leads to poor syllabus coverage hence low academic results.
“We don’t have lockers so we use desks which are shared by at least two students. The school also has no water and electricity,” they complained, revealing further that they have frequently sought help from the nearby education offices but their efforts have borne no fruits.
When reached for a comment on phone, sub county education officer Rose Musembi noted that she is not aware about any of the issues at the school.
