The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), West Pokot County Branch, has ushered in a new leadership team following a highly contested election exercise that drew delegates from secondary schools, junior secondary schools, and tertiary institutions across the county.

The polls, conducted in line with the KUPPET Constitution and electoral guidelines, were described as peaceful and transparent. Candidates campaigned vigorously on matters affecting teachers’ welfare, professionalism, and labour rights, reflecting the high expectations members place on their union leadership.

Observers noted that the contests were among the most competitive in recent years, with several positions attracting multiple contenders. Despite the cut-throat nature of the campaigns, the process was conducted smoothly under the supervision of the KUPPET electoral committee, which ensured fairness in vote counting and prompt announcement of results.
