Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii branch has welcomed the commissioning of the education reforms task force to review the controversial Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) education system by President Ruto.

Speaking during the funeral of a former headteacher, Francis Ombiro Oseko, the branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha said that the appointment was timely given that implementation of the curriculum had sparked heated debates causing divisions among stakeholders.

“Most of  those appointed are professionals of great experience. We expect them provide satisfactory findings on this controversial matter,” he said.

Abincha asked the newly appointed task force to collect and consider views from all stakeholders and in the same breath urged parents and school management committees to be ready to give their contributions when approached.

In the same forum, US-based politician Mr. Domic Zeberio decried the poor state of Kiru Primary School in Bokimonge Ward.

He said that the school was one of the oldest institution in the area with dilapidated infrastructure and blamed its Board of Management for misplaced priorities.

He appealed to local leaders to join hands for the sake of renovating the school and bringing back its lost glory.

Zeberio further promised to mobilize his colleagues in the US to collect funds towards the same.
