KUPPET wants JSS students’ to transition directly to current secondary schools

Narok KUPPET at a past event. The union now wants JSS students to proceed to the current secondary schools, saying primary schools lack infrastructure and capacity...........

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Narok branch, has advocated for the progression of Junior Secondary School (JSS) students to existing secondary schools.

Speaking in Narok town, Executive Secretary Charles Ngeno asserted that secondary schools possess the necessary infrastructure and space to accommodate these students.

“The morale of these teachers is low and this will affect their performance leading to poor education quality. This is against the government’s plan for quality and affordable education,” he stated.

Flanked by other officials, Ngeno vowd the union’s steadfast commitment to placing teachers in secondary schools, aligning with the terms stated in their appointment letters.

Branch Treasurer Sheila Kuluo echoed these sentiments, declaring their refusal to renew the contract with AON Minet, citing inadequate services.

Kuluo criticized AON for allegedly exploiting teachers over the past five years and calls on the government to reconsider the teachers’ medical coverage.

The union expresses dissatisfaction with the inconsistent payment of tutors, claiming that some educators have not received salaries for the past five months.
