Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Samburu has call upon the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to consider teachers in particular deputy principals who have stagnated in one job group for long in the next promotions.
KUPPET Samburu branch Executive Secretary William Lengoiyap stated that those who are greatly affected are those teachers who were deployed from primary to teach in secondary schools that he says their promotion has been difficult, calling on TSC to promote this cadre of teachers to higher grades since they have stagnated in one job group for so long.
Lengoiyap stated further that a good number of teachers from the region are demoralize to see the students they taught being promoted to higher job groups worst being the long acting period for deputy principals and principals in the region that is coupled with insecurity.

“It is so stressing for a teacher to see a student that they taught is being promoted to a higher job group. Many Principals and Deputy Principals have been acting for more than 5 years. It is very wrong for TSC to leave a teacher to act in a position for years and years without being confirmed. A teacher should only act for six months then be confirmed,” said Lengoiyap.
The unionist has urged TSC to promote teachers in acting capacity and those teaching in arid and semi-arid land areas (ASAL) and hardship areas since they are offering services under challenging circumstances.
