As Kenyans across the country marked Mashujaa Day to honor the nation’s heroes and heroines, Bomet KUPPET Assistant Treasurer Zephania Yebei paid a heartfelt tribute to teachers, describing them as the unsung heroes whose selfless service continues to shape Kenya’s destiny.

In his Mashujaa Day message, Yebei lauded educators for their unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds despite numerous challenges.

He said that through their daily sacrifices, teachers form the backbone of the nation’s development by inspiring and empowering future generations.

“Every lesson you teach, every child you inspire, and every life you transform builds the foundation of a brighter tomorrow,” Yebei said, adding, “You carry the torch of knowledge with dignity, patience, and resilience by molding generations with wisdom and compassion.”

He emphasized that true heroism is not only found on the battlefield or in the pages of history but in the classrooms where teachers dedicate their lives to transforming society through education.

Yebei noted that while many national heroes are remembered for their political, social, and liberation struggles, teachers remain the silent champions who sustain the nation’s moral and intellectual growth.

“As we honor our national heroes, let us remember that the courage and dedication of teachers keep our dreams alive. They stand tall against challenges and continue to nurture hope in every child,” he added.

Yebei urged the government and education stakeholders to continue improving teachers’ welfare and working conditions, saying that investing in teachers is investing in Kenya’s future.

The KUPPET official also called upon communities to celebrate educators beyond ceremonial occasions, noting that many continue to serve in remote and under-resourced areas with limited recognition.

As Kenyans reflected on the sacrifices of historical and modern-day heroes, Yebei’s message struck a chord with many in the education sector, reminding the nation that the classroom remains one of the greatest battlefields for Kenya’s progress.
