The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) National Governing Council (NGC) has this afternoon resolved that the Monday strike is still on as planned.
Sources inside the meeting disclosed to Education News that all the 68 officials who attended today’s meeting all voted YES to the strike tomorrow.
The union National Chairman Omboko Milemba addressing the press shortly after the meeting, revealed that the NGC resolved to uphold the strike, urging principals to take care of school property and learners if they report to school.
“After thorough consultations and discussion by the KUPPET National Governing Council, the strike is officially on as of Monday, 26th August 2024. Dear Parents, you are therefore well informed. Principals are advised to take care of school property and learners if any reports back to school,” said Milemba.
Earlier on, there were divided opinion regarding the status of the strike, with fears that a good number of officials were in favour of calling it off as the employer had partly met their demands.
