KUPPET Laikipia urges teachers to focus on teaching, shun politics

By Peter Otuoro

Teachers from Laikipia county have been urged to put more efforts in teaching in order to produce good results in the forthcoming national examinations instead of concentrating on politics.

KUPPET Laikipia branch Executive Secretary Robert Miano told the teachers that they will be judged by their school’s good performance.

Miano added that parents and all education stakeholders will be concerned about the good results schools produce.

He further explained that despite the fact that teachers have a democratic right to vote, they shouldn’t forget their noble duty towards their students.

“Politics will come and go therefore we should remember that the lives of thousands of Kenyan children are on our hands.  We should have enough time to teach them to enable them produce good results,” said Miano.

The unionist added that the 2022 academic year is short hence it needs the full time and dedication of teachers and students for good academic performance.

“KCSE and KCPE candidates should concentrate on their books and follow teachers’ instructions as they prepare for their national exams in December,” he implored.

Miano urged politicians to stop holding their political campaigns near institutions of higher learning.

He further advised all teachers to be ready to work with the elected leaders after the general elections.
