The Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii Branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha has expressed fear of failure of Senior School transition citing many loopholes in the system.
The Unionist said the government is dragging its feet in retooling of teachers who will handle the pioneer learners.
“I foresee a situation where we are going to produce half or zero baked senior secondary school graduates because of the government’s unpreparedness to equip our teachers with the required efficient skills to mold these young ones.” He said.
He alluded that unless the government hastens retooling and equipping schools with enough teaching and learning materials, Competency Based Curriculum system might drag to be implemented in senior schools.

“Already teachers have known what Competency Curriculum is let the government not waste time in sensitizing people about it but instead employ and train enough teachers facilitate its success.” He said.
Abincha who has already launched an aggressive campaign to retain his seat in the expected Branch elections soon, asked teachers to remain focused in their pedagogical endeavours saying that theirs is a noble profession.
He called upon the Teachers Service Commission to employ enough teachers to enable the educators to deliver well without much strain in the areas of specialization as they serve the ever increasing number of children in schools.
