KUPPET invited to State House for high-stakes talks with President Ruto

KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori has directed branch secretaries to submit names of delegates ahead of a September 12 State House meeting with President Ruto.

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has confirmed that its delegates across the country will hold a high-level meeting with President William Ruto at State House on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10am.

In a circular dated September 8, 2025, KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori officially notified all branch executive secretaries and directed them to submit the names, TSC numbers, and ID numbers of six nominated women representatives and other delegates by noon on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

“The presence of teachers at State House is an opportunity to engage the Head of State directly on matters affecting education,” Misori wrote in the circular.

The invitation, addressed to all Branch Executive Secretaries, marks a significant milestone in strengthening dialogue between the teaching fraternity and the government.

Misori emphasised inclusivity in representation, saying: “We have insisted that six women nominees from across the branches take part to ensure gender balance in decision-making.”

The Secretary General further urged swift compliance with the directive, noting: “This meeting is time-bound. Branches must act expeditiously in forwarding their representatives so that teachers’ voices are not left out.”

Delegates are expected to raise issues related to education reforms, teacher welfare, and challenges in capitation funding, which have recently drawn heated debate among the Ministry of Education, TSC, and unions.

“This engagement is not just ceremonial. Teachers want action, not promises. We will press for solutions,” Misori stated.
